We formed GRAVEDIGGINGS for three simple reasons:
*We love to read really good scary writing.*
*We love to look at really scary pictures.*
*We love to offer exposure of the works of up-and-coming writers and artists.*
We want anyone who loves a good scare to be able to come to GRAVEDIGGINGS, read a story, look at a pic,
and leave with goosebumps and chills up and down their spine. If you visit the site and suddenly develop a terror
of nightfall and the sounds that accompany the dark, then we've done our job!
MEET THE EDITORS:
KATHLEEN NEWTON: Kath holds certificates in English and Editing/Proofing, and does freelance editing and proofing of anything that's interesting (email for rates!).
Originally a medical professional, Kath works as an editor/proofer for a local company, and in her free time (once in a purple moon), she gardens, writes on anything that comes to mind, and plays her electric guitar. Kath has published a ton of non-fiction articles online on topics ranging from First Aid to Wine (almost the whole alphabet!). When not writing about all things ghoulish and ghastly, Kath tends to her own 3 little hellions,
and has the dubious talent of being able to use the terms "exsanguination" and "diaper change" in the same thought (as in, "I need to finish writing this chapter on the victim's total exsanguination,
but first I better do a diaper change on the stinky baby"). Kath reads just about anything, and her two favorite authors are Stephen King (of course) and Jonathan Kellerman, although since Rome ended on HBO, Steven Saylor has been supplying her fix of Roman life and scandal. She'd really love to marry Alex Delaware,
but considering she's already married, and Alex is a fictional character, it probably wouldn't last long. *EMAIL KATH*
ROGER NEWTON: Roger is the "Scare-Value" editor here at GRAVEDIGGINGS. After having traveled around the world for 20+ years in the U.S. Navy,
Roger's seen and done pretty much everything, and his standards are high. Roger is also a constant proofer, and is unable to read any of Kath's work without a red pen in hand.
Roger has the constant pleasure ;) of being married to Kath, and is father to those 3 little hellions mentioned above. Roger is proud to own the complete hardcover collection of the works of Stephen King, and is currently re-reading L. Ron
Hubbard's "Mission Earth" dekalogy. Roger is interested in seeing stories that blend sci-fi and horror. *EMAIL ROGER*
CALLIE DEL ORO: Callie is a talented writer that loves to blend romance and horror, and is devoted to horror movie scenes where the young couple is about to get it on, and a monster,
murderer, etc. bursts onto the scene and causes the bloody demise of the man, while the woman screams in mortal terror. ("Now that's entertainment!") Callie loves to read anything by Poppy Z. Brite and Anne Rice, and in going along with
her writing, is interested in seeing stories with an element of romance amidst the horror. *EMAIL CALLIE*
AXEL "The Axe" D'ANGELO: For The Axe, gore is good. He writes it, reads it, and loves a well-written tale of murder and mayhem, with lots of blood and guts. "But the gore has to serve a purpose," says The Axe.
A story with a definable plot, strong characters, and lots of bloody viscera is The Axe's idea of the perfect read. The Axe loves art, and although his love of gore extents to art, he also is well-versed in classic art. He enjoys the art of Edouard Manet,
and his favorite author is James Lee Burke. *EMAIL THE AXE*
