Book Review:
"DUST"
by *Bryan Alaspa*

Bryan Alaspa is an up-and-coming writer out of Chicago. If you'd like to read his bio, click *HERE*. "Dust" is Bryan's third self-published novel, and I have to say, it was a real page-turner. The characters are believable and realistic, and you'll soon figure out who you love, and who you hate. The story itself is intriguing, and as you read, you realize that Bryan is one giant tease: he'll give little hints and pieces of the puzzle, and while you may think you know what's going on, you'll realize at the shocking end that you really didn't have a clue. "Dust" is such an enjoyable read: suspense, thriller, and a bit of true horror thrown in make this book a must-read for suspense and thriller lovers.
We're proud to offer "Dust", right here on Gravediggings:

"The Tooth Fairy on DVD!"

This movie was a blast! "The Tooth Fairy" bases its story on one of the many questionable legends of the origins of the Tooth Fairy, but it doesn't diminish the film at all; it just adds to the unease and eventual horror. I'm not one to give away anything when talking about movies; I know that I love to sit down and watch a movie knowing very little about what's coming, so I promise I won't give away any of the plot :) but here's a quick synopsis:
In 1949 Northern California, a witch entices children to her falling-down home (the quintessential "Haunted House") where she promises something cool (like a new red Schwinn...) in exchange for the children's last baby teeth. Instead, she steals the teeth, kills the kids, and condems their souls to an eternity of wandering the earth. Sixty years later, the house has been renovated into a Bed-and-Breakfast, but the witch remains, looking for more teeth...
...and my Top Ten Reasons why I enjoyed "The Tooth Fairy" so much:

10: Great FX. I felt like I needed a towel to shield me from the blood spatters.
9: PJ Soles as the psycho neighbor. Yikes.
8: An plot that was actually easy to understand and follow!
7: Nicole Munoz's character Pamela (as a little girl about to lose her last baby tooth, therefore, wanted by the Tooth Fairy) was believable, and Ms. Munoz delivered a very nice performance.
6: A bit of gratuitous nudity is always pleasing!
5: The graphic and left-me-squirming demise of the hateful Hammond brothers (see the trailer below).
4: The slaughtering of some characters we'd rather have lived. This is good because it's somewhat rare. This witch didn't discriminate just because Kath couldn't get enough of Bobby's abs and biceps.
3: Lochlyn Munro's character Peter Campbell: all the poor schmuck wanted to do was open a B&B. Instead, he gets stuck with an ancient witch and eventually, quite a few dead people surrounding him.
2: An AWESOME wood-chipper scene!
1: I got what I expected and wanted: a nice scary movie that held my attention and had Kath holding my arm the entire time!
